Section 11 of the Children Act places a statutory duty on key organisations to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. The North Tyneside Safeguarding Children Board (NTSCB) undertakes an annual audit of all member organisations detailing how their organisation meets the criteria and sub-criteria of eight national safeguarding standards.
Schools had to self-assess themselves against the 68 criteria using a RAG rating whereby Green depicts the school exceeds minimum requirements; Amber depicts meeting the minimum standard but action needs to be taken to bring about improvements and Red indicates the school is below the minimum requirements and action needs to be taken to bring about improvements.
The audit for partners contains the same eight standards as the school audit form, but has only 43 sub-standards.
